Your child's report explained.

What is assessment?

Assessment is the measurement of what students are learning. Student achievement is defined as how well they’ve mastered 'Age Related Expectations'. Assessments provide teachers with both objective and subjective data in order to ascertain student progress and skill mastery.

Formative: Given throughout the learning process, formative assessments seek to determine how students are progressing through a certain learning goal by observation, discussion and the marking of books.

Summative: Usually a paper based test given at the end of each term or unit of study at a distance from direct teaching.

What are the 'Age Related Expectations' for my child?
